-WHERE ARE TEACHERS PRIORITIZED FOR THE COVID-19 VACCINE?-

Wondering where teachers are being prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine? Check out this new map to find out. One year into the COVID-19 crisis, UNESCO and the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 carried out a survey to inquire how countries were prioritizing teachers in national vaccination rollout plans. Based on data from 150 countries—including data from the UNESCO/UNICEF/World Bank Survey on National Education Responses to COVID-19 School Closures, the research found that only 17 countries coming from several regions prioritize teachers within the first group for vaccination. <!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->Visit the Education: From disruption to recovery page to access the three interactive maps related to education during the COVID-19 crisis, including the monitoring of school closures and the duration of school closures.

CCNGO REPORT PROVIDING A CSO LENS ON FUTURES OF EDUCATION

The report is timely ahead of the international review spearheaded by the Global Education Monitoring 2021/2 report on non-state actors in education. It reflects on how CSOs in the education field will evolve in a world of rising inequality fuelling tensions, increased alienation from automation and uncertainty caused by multiple crises, not least climate change. The report makes the case for CSOs flexibility and adaptability as increasingly valuable and necessary in the face of new challenges. Read more

EXECUTIVE BOARD

The UNESCO 211th session of the Executive Board is taking place from 7 to 21 April.  The draft Medium-Term Strategy (C/4) and draft Programme and Budget (C/5) are the major items on the agenda and will set the stage for UNESCO’s work in the years to come. Other key issues to be discussed include, among others, the UNESCO Strategy for Technological Innovation in Education (2021-2025), a study on the desirability of revising the 1974 Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, invitations to the International Conference of States to adopt the revised higher education convention for the Arab States as well as progress reports on SDG 4 coordination and the Futures of Education.  The Executive Board will also look at the item on the Future of the International Bureau of Education (IBE), which has been postponed from the last session.  See the provisional agenda and timetable
