| Results of consultations on the
methodological developments of SDG 4 Indicators are available in the
Technical Cooperation Group Report for 2020; on the TCG website (here), on the document page of the 7th
meeting. The report presents a summary of
the 7th TCG Meeting (TCG7), held last October, the results
of both consultations (July 2020 and post-TCG7), and regional benchmarking
processes. 2021 is a critical time for benchmarks-related
activities, which will be presented at the next Global Education Meeting in
July 2021. To further assist the global community, a space on the TCG website has been dedicated to access
information on how to bridge regional frameworks for monitoring education to
achieve SDG 4 targets. On 1 February the UIS held a webinar for the launch of the 3rd
iteration of the Survey on National Education
Reponses to COVID-19 and Rapid Assessment Survey and the Survey to Monitoring Impact on Main Education
Data Aggregates (MIMEA). You can access all the material, including the
video of the webinar, by visiting: http://covid19.uis.unesco.org/webinars/.

| CCNGO CG member CLADE : “Towards a global agenda: the human right to
education” at the World Social Forum 2021
| In the framework of the WSF 2021,
CLADE joined the agenda of transformation at the global level, articulated to
the various fields of social struggle and rights, recognizing the catalytic
role of education. The pandemic has  highlighted the historical
inequalities within and outside education systems, affecting women, girls,
people with disabilities, refugees and migrants, indigenous communities,
rural populations, among others. It also highlighted the digital divide and
government responses to it, as well as the need to build a digital
sovereignty strategy. Through strengthened public
education systems, it is necessary to resist the threats of fiscal austerity
policies, national indebtedness and cuts in education funding, as well as the
multiple trends of privatization. From early childhood through to youth and
guaranteeing adult education, it is essential, in the post-pandemic period,
to rethink the meaning and purpose of education, in the search for the rights
of peoples and overcoming patriarchy. A heterogeneous and intercultural
model, transformative and inclusive; based on dialogue and safe for
communities; valuing their knowledge and local knowledge, as well as
collaboration in solidarity and commitment to the protection of life. A synthesis of
the debate in English and the resume of the debate was shared as
contribution to the final declaration of the Forum in 4 languages: English, Portuguese, French and Spanish   | ||||||||||||
