8 septembre 2015 – Journée internationale de l’alphabétisation.

    Les célébrations de cette Journée sont organisées aux niveaux mondial, régional et national autour d'un thème choisi pour rappeler à la communauté internationale la centralité de l'alphabétisation à l'apprentissage tout au long de la vie et à la création de sociétés durables et inclusives. Le thème de cette année est «Alphabétisation et sociétés durables". 

   L'année 2015 représente une occasion particulière pour la communauté internationale de faire le bilan des progrès accomplis vers la réalisation des objectifs internationalement énoncés, notamment les six objectifs de l’Education pour tous (EPT) et les Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement (OMD), et de façonner le nouvel agenda pour l'éducation et le développement durable. L'idée principale derrière ce thème est donc d'explorer les liens cruciaux entre l'alphabétisation et le futur agenda de développement durable qui sera adopté lors de la 70e session de l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies en septembre à 2015. 

   Un évènement mondial sur "l'alphabétisation et les sociétés durables» sera organisé à l'occasion de la Journée internationale de l'alphabétisation au Siège de l'UNESCO, à Paris, les 8 et 9 septembre 2015, afin de préparer les bases nécessaires à des efforts d'alphabétisation intensifiés de la part des pays et des partenaires pour la période post-2015. A cette occasion, une cérémonie de remise de l'édition 2015 des Prix Internationaux d'alphabétisation de l'UNESCO se tiendra également le 8 septembre 2015. Dans ce contexte, j’encourage nos ONG partenaires à organiser des activités connexes, en collaboration avec des partenaires clés, y compris les Bureaux hors Siège de l'UNESCO.

8 September 2015 - International Literacy Day International Literacy Day celebrations are held at the global, regional and country levels around a selected theme to remind the international community about the centrality of literacy to lifelong learning and to the creation of sustainable and inclusive societies. 

   This year’s theme is “Literacy and sustainable societies”. The year 2015 presents a special opportunity for the international community to take stock of progress made towards the achievement of the internationally agreed goals, notably the six Education for All (EFA) goals and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to shape the new agenda for education and sustainable development. The main idea behind this theme, therefore, is to explore critical links between literacy and the future sustainable development agenda which will be adopted during the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015.

     A global event on “Literacy and sustainable societies” will be organized on the occasion of International Literacy Day at UNESCO Headquarters, in Paris, on 8 and 9 September 2015, to prepare the ground for intensified literacy efforts of countries and partners in the post-2015 era. 

       On this occasion, an Award Ceremony of the 2015 edition of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes will also take place on 8 September 2015. Within this framework, I encourage our NGO partners to organize related activities, in collaboration with key partners, including UNESCO Field Offices.
