“… Educare non è solo trasmettere concetti, questa
sarebbe un’eredità dell’illuminismo che bisogna superare, ossia non trasmettere
solo concetti, ma è un compito che esige che tutti coloro che ne sono
responsabili — famiglia, scuola e istituzioni sociali, culturali, religiose...
— vi partecipino in modo solidale. In tal senso, in alcuni paesi si dice che si
è rotto il patto educativo perché manca questa partecipazione sociale all’educazione.
Per educare bisogna cercare d’integrare il linguaggio della testa con il
linguaggio del cuore e il linguaggio delle mani. Che un alunno pensi ciò che
sente e ciò che fa, senta ciò che pensa e ciò che fa, faccia ciò che sente e
ciò che pensa. Integrazione totale. Promuovendo l’apprendimento della testa,
del cuore e delle mani, l’educazione intellettuale e socio-emozionale, la
trasmissione dei valori e delle virtù individuali e sociali, l’insegnamento di
una cittadinanza impegnata e solidale con la giustizia, e impartendo le abilità
e le conoscenze che formano i giovani per il mondo del lavoro e la società, le
famiglie, le scuole e le istituzioni diventano veicoli essenziali per l’empowerment della
prossima generazione. Allora sì, non si parla più di un patto educativo rotto.
Il patto è questo.
Oggi è in crisi, si è rotto il cosiddetto “patto
educativo”; il patto educativo che si crea tra la famiglia, la scuola, la
patria e il mondo, la cultura e le culture. Si è rotto e rotto davvero; non si
può rincollare o ricomporre. Non si può rammendare, se non attraverso un
rinnovato sforzo di generosità e di accordo universale …”
“ … Education is not merely
about transmitting concepts; that would be a legacy of the learning that has to
be overcome, that is, it is not only the transmission of concepts. Education is
an enterprise that demands cooperation on the part of all involved – the
family, the school and social, cultural and religious institutions. In this
sense, in some countries it is said that the educational compact is broken
because this social participation in education is lacking. In order to educate,
one has to be able to combine the language of the head with the language of the
heart and the language of the hands. In this way, the student can think what he
or she feels and does, can feel what he or she thinks and does, and can do what
he or she feels and thinks. A total integration. By encouraging this training
of the head, the heart and the hands, intellectual and socio-emotional
education, the transmission of individual and societal values and virtues, the
teaching of a committed citizenship concerned for justice, and by imparting the
abilities and knowledge that can prepare young people for the world of work and
society, families, schools and institutions become essential vehicles for the
empowerment of future generations. [If it is so] We can’t speak, though, of a
broken educational compact. This is the compact.
Today what I have called the
“educational compact” between families, schools, nations and the world, culture
and cultures, is in crisis, and indeed in a state of breakdown… “
“ ... Educar no es solamente
trasmitir conceptos, esta sería una herencia de la ilustración que hay que
superar, o sea no sólo transmitir conceptos, sino que es una labor que exige
que todos los responsables de la misma —familia, escuela e instituciones
sociales, culturales, religiosas…— se impliquen en ella de forma solidaria. En
este sentido, en algunos países se habla de que está roto el pacto educativo
porque falta esta concurrencia social en la educación. Para educar hay que
buscar integrar el lenguaje de la cabeza con el lenguaje del corazón y el
lenguaje de las manos. Que un educando piense lo que siente y lo que hace,
sienta lo que piensa y lo que hace, haga lo que siente y lo que piensa.
Integración total. Al fomentar el aprendizaje de la cabeza, del corazón y de
las manos, la educación intelectual y socioemocional, la transmisión de los
valores y las virtudes individuales y sociales, la enseñanza de una ciudadanía
comprometida y solidaria con la justicia, y al impartir las habilidades y el
conocimiento que forman a los jóvenes para el mundo del trabajo y la sociedad,
las familias, las escuelas y las instituciones se convierten en vehículos esenciales
para el empoderamiento de la próxima generación. Entonces sí, no se habla ya de
un pacto educativo roto. El pacto es este.
Hoy está en crisis, está roto
lo que he llamado el “pacto educativo”; el pacto educativo que se da entre la
familia, la escuela, la patria y el mundo, la cultura y las culturas. Está
roto, y muy roto; y no se puede pegar o recomponer. No se puede zurcir, sino a
través de un renovado esfuerzo de generosidad y acuerdo universal ...”
